Clonturk Community College is delighted to announce that City of Dublin ETB has confirmed that the school is to move to a new 1,000 pupil school building on its existing Whitehall site. This building will include four classrooms for pupils with special educational needs.
Speaking about the announcement, the Principal of Clonturk Community College, Wesleigh O’Hagan said:
“We are delighted with this announcement. This will see our school community move to a wonderful permanent building, allowing our community to continue to grow and expand. This state-of-the-art school building will offer our students so many innovative educational opportunities into the future. Our wonderful and creative school community will now have a building that matches their innovation. We are grateful to CDETB and the Department of Education for this development.”
The Chief Executive of CDETB, Dr. Christy Duffy said:
“CDETB welcomes this news. With this development, the Clonturk Community College school community can continue to expand and flourish. This is in line with the overall CDETB strategy for our schools, which has seen our second level schools continue to grow and develop in recent years. Clonturk Community College will be a 1,000 pupil school, sharing a campus with its CDETB sister school, Margaret Aylward Community College”.
This announcement comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CDETB and the Department of Education, which was signed on 24th March 2022. Under this agreement the landmark Cathal Brugha Street/Marlborough Street building, which is in the ownership of the Minister for Education, will be developed by CDETB as a flagship Dublin City College of FET presence for in the city centre.
