Accelerated Reader

Accelerated Reader is a 1st Year goal-driven reading programme which aims to encourage students to read more and to increase their literacy levels.

How does it work?

– Students take an online reading quiz (known as a STAR test).

– Results of test guide students to a particular level of book.

– Levels are colour-coded (library book stickers correspond to levels).

– Students can take a book from the school library, from home, or from a local library.

– Students take a short online quiz on completion of their book.

– Students gain points based on the results of their online quiz.

– Students have a points target to hit throughout the year.
